Description

The real estate brokerage business has diverse management challenges, from creating a profitable business to protecting the consumer’s best interest. If successful, it can be a very rewarding experience both financially and personally. This program will help a real estate licensee or broker determine whether opening his or her own office is best for him or her. It will also explore how to set up and run a new business.

It is not possible to cover all the information needed to start and operate a business in the time allotted for this program. It is suggested that if a real estate broker is considering starting his or her own firm, he or she should read extensively about the brokerage business and about opening a small business in general. He or she should also take the opportunity to discuss it with other brokers and other small business owners.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to able to:

  • Evaluate, plan, and prepare to open a brokerage
  • Operate a brokerage in compliance with legal requirements
  • Apply basic managerial and leadership skills to brokerage operations and personnel
  • Develop brokerage policies, procedures, and budget
