Description
The purpose of this GRI module is to educate our members with clear instructions and guidance regarding Professional Standards of conduct for Florida REALTORS®. A working understanding of the Code of Ethics provides the Florida REALTOR® with the expectations and requirements of both the National Association of REALTORS® and the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC).
The Code of Ethics guides REALTORS® in providing ethical and professional service to consumers.
Objectives
On completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Compare usual and customary regulatory concepts with the Code of Ethics
- Interpret key aspirational concepts found in the Preamble to the National Association of REALTOR® Code of Ethics
- Apply the concepts established in the Articles of the Code of Ethics
- Evaluate given scenarios for possible Code of Ethics violations based on the concepts and Standards of Practice established in the Articles
- Outline the primary factors considered by hearing panels in procuring cause disputes
- Apply the Professional Standards process for enforcing the Code of Ethics, including the Duty to Arbitrate
- Illustrate with examples, violations of the “Pathways to Professionalism” courtesy and etiquette guidelines
- Identify the licensee’s duties to Clients and Customers
- Understand “what” may be cited in and Ethics Complaint
- Follow the timeline used to file and complete an Ethics and Professional Standards hearing
- Understand how and why the Code is updated
- Identify who the Code of Ethics applies to
